Baltimore police officer no longer with department amid investigation into misconduct

A member of the Baltimore Police Department is under investigation for misconduct related to the deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine in the city, the 11 News I-Team has learned.Sources told the I-Team the officer was a major who left the department Friday.A spokesperson for the mayor said the officer used his position of influence to access the vaccine on Jan. 6, the second day of the vaccine rollout in the city to health care workers and first responders.According to a statement from the Baltimore Police Department, an internal investigation continues: “The Baltimore Police Department learned of an allegation of misconduct involving one of our members that occurred on Jan. 6. This matter was immediately referred to Internal Affairs for an investigation. On Jan. 8, the member separated from department; however, the internal investigation will continue.”
